Abstract

Research has been carried out on the analysis of nutrient (Na, K, Ca, and Mg) of soil as well as the soil’s physical and chemical properties in Holtekamp Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City. The samples (18 points) taken from farmland and non-farm or forest land. Samples were taken from a depth of 0-10 cm used soil ring sampler. Then the soil sample was dried at 105°C for 3 hours, sieved using a 2 mm sieve. Physical properties are water content and bulk density, while chemical properties are pH and organic carbon content. The nutrient concentration measured were Na, K. Ca and Mg, all of which were in “exchangeable†form, they are extracted with ammonium acetate solution and measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) method. The results of the study were the pH in the farmland and non-farm was classified as very high. The organic carbon content in farmland and non-farm soils is high, but the thickness of the topsoil in non-farm soils is much higher than in farmland soils. The Na-exc concentration in the farmland was in the medium category and in the non-farm was in the high category, K-exc in the farmland and in the non-farm was in the low category, the Ca-exc in the farmland was in the high category and in the non-farm soil, it was low. Mg-exc in the farmland were in the middle category and in the non-farm were in the low category. Key word : Soil Nutrient, Soil Organic Karbon, Traditional Farming.
