The low level of historical knowledge causes a lack of historical awareness characterized by a lack of concern for the existence of colonial heritage buildings in the Abepura (Jayapura) area which tend to be neglected. Whereas Abepura is an area that has an important and strategic role in the government system during the colonial period until now. These colonial relics need to be maintained and preserved so that the identity of the region and the socio-cultural values inherent in these relics are not lost. This research aims to describe the method of walking through historical heritage in Abepura as a strategy to strengthen historical awareness among the younger generation of Papua. The research method used is the historical method, with stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. The results showed that first, there are several colonial heritage buildings in Abepura, namely round houses, residential houses for government employees, Uncen transistor buildings, STT GKI I.S. This research aims to examine the migration of the Mee people in Kampung Sereh, Jayapura Regency in the 1940s-1962 period. The research method used is the historical method, which involves the stages of topic selection, heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The research results show that the migration of the Mee tribe is influenced by economic factors, cultural acculturation, educational progress, and the desire to improve their standard of living. The Mee people who migrated to Jayapura City and Regency were mainly motivated by their participation in a group of missionaries who were returning to Jayapura. Currently, the Mee people have become an integral part of the development of Jayapura City, especially in infrastructure development and community services. The importance of understanding the migration history of the Mee tribe highlights their contribution to the development of Jayapura Regency and cultural diversity in enriching the local community. However, the history of migration also presents challenges such as stigmatization and social conflict that need to be handled wisely by the government and local communities. Therefore, efforts are needed to strengthen the local economy, maintain cultural diversity, reduce social conflicts, and conduct further studies on the impact of Mee ethnic migration on the social and economic dynamics of Jayapura Regency. In this way, it is hoped that the Mee tribe community can feel the positive impact of their migration and become an active part in the development of Jayapura Regency.</p> 2024-06-12T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Jurnal Historical Cenderawasih
