Research silica pillared clay from Merauke (Papua) natural clay was conducted. Pillarization was introduced with benzalkanium cloride as template so intercalation of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as a source of silica succesfully. Concentration of clay suspension was varied : 10 %, 15 % and 25 % ( %w/w). Result material was calcined at 600oC for 4 hours and caracterized with XRD instrument at 2θ angle = 2,5 - 15o. Research showed that all of variation of suspension clay concentrasion resulted pillared clay. Concentration of suspension clay 15 % as optimum concentration to yielded pillared clay with reason more material resulted and basal spacing increased from 15,14 Ǻ (natural clay) to 45,02 Ǻ (pillared clay) or increased 2,97 times
