Focus and Scope
Jurnal Kajian Ekonomi dan Studi Pembangunan (JKESP) publishes high-quality empirical research articles, critical reviews, and conceptual-theoretical studies encompassing the following core areas:
1. Regional Economics and Finance
This section focuses on fiscal management at the local level, including an analysis of local genuine revenue, regional taxes and levies, and budget expenditure efficiency. It also examines fiscal decentralization, covering central-regional fiscal relations, general allocation funds, special allocation funds, and special autonomy funds, alongside the principles of transparent and accountable financial governance.
2. Economy Planning and Development
This section covers strategic planning for balanced territorial development, including spatial planning, sectoral prioritization, and long-term investment strategies. It analyzes interregional disparities, lagging areas, and the design of growth poles or special economic zones. Key macroeconomic indicators, such as inflation, unemployment, poverty, and economic structure, inform evidence-based planning. It also addresses urban-rural dynamics, migration patterns, new growth centers, and the role of infrastructure in enhancing productivity, connectivity, and economic resilience.
3. Agricultural Economics and Local Economic Development
This section focuses on the primary sector and community-driven economic growth. It addresses agribusiness and agricultural supply chains, local food security, institutional farming, and primary sector productivity issues. It also covers community-based economic empowerment, the development of local flagship products, and the strategic role in driving local economies. (Note: Sustainable development related to natural resources has been moved to section 5 to avoid overlap.)
4. International Business and Monetary Economics
This section focuses on macroeconomic stability and the performance of the external sector. It analyzes monetary policy, exchange rate stability, global inflation impacts, and monetary policy transmission to the national and regional economies. It also covers international trade, including the import-export performance of regional commodities, foreign direct investment, and the competitiveness of the domestic market globally.
5. Environmental Economics and Natural Resources
This section is dedicated exclusively to the intersection of the economy and ecology. It covers the economic valuation of ecosystem services, sustainable management of renewable and non-renewable resources, and environmental policy instruments, such as ecological taxes and green subsidies. It also addresses low-carbon development, climate change adaptation, and institutional solutions for managing common pool resources and property rights. (Sustainable resource utilization from section 3 is now integrated here to avoid duplication.)
